Our Culinary Philosophy

Traditional, time-honored delicacies like horseradish beef or Fiaker goulash are as much a part of Sternbräu as classics of Austrian cuisine – first and foremost the Original Wiener Schnitzel and oven-fresh roast pork. In addition, we offer house specialties such as our Sternbräu bratwurst made from our own recipe or Salzburger Nockerl for one. Our kitchen, led by Michael Pratter, stands for traditional Austrian dishes, prepared authentically and with great care. We place particular emphasis on fresh and high-quality ingredients, prefer regional products, and work with long-standing partners. This combines Austrian culinary tradition, high quality, and a contemporary standard. It is important to us that this culinary offering suits various occasions and budgets – with a fair price-performance ratio.

Enjoy your meal!

Daily Menu

Brewing with Tradition

Since 2008, the traditional Sternbier has once again been part of Sternbräu. The amber-yellow, naturally cloudy beer has been brewed exclusively for Sternbräu by the Salzburg private brewery Stiegl in organic quality since April 2025. Served in specially designed Sternbier glasses, it is once again a true beer hit at Sternbräu today.

The history of Sternbier goes back a long way: Sternbräu was already one of more than a dozen breweries in Salzburg's Old Town from 1411. In 1907, the brewery was relocated to the Riedenburg district behind the Neutor. In 1911, the Stern brewery achieved the second-highest beer production in Salzburg – only Stiegl produced more beer. In 1956, the last bottle of the then-popular Sternbier was bottled at the Stern brewery in Riedenburg, and the brewery closed. Today, luxury apartments are located there.

After 53 years, the tradition of Sternbier was revived in 2008. Since April 2025, this tradition has once again brought Sternbräu and Stiegl together: our Sternbier has since been brewed by the private brewery Stiegl exclusively for Sternbräu in organic quality.
